The utility also provides affordable natural gas energy to more than 145 new homes through the program.

Natural Gas Service Installation Process

Did you know that 59 of Florida's 67 counties offer natural gas energy for industrial, commercial and residential use? As we continue to look closer at the future of American energy, it is no surprise that natural gas energy has become a relevant and popular choice for homes and businesses. Natural gas continues to play a lead role in saving money and energy while increasing the comfort and efficiency of homes and businesses.

You'll be surprised to know the many benefits and uses of natural gas energy for both residential and commercial use (ex. water heating, spa/pool heating, cooking, drying clothes, heating homes and businesses). Comparatively, households that use natural gas for heating, cooking and clothes drying save an average of $879 per year. The natural gas installation process is rather basic and involves a Clearwater Gas System sales representative visiting your home (at your request) or business to perform a site visit and determine the gas energy needs for your home or business. Please be aware that Clearwater Gas System offers a residential energy conservation allowance when converting from electric to natural gas energy. Following the site visit, a written estimate will be provided detailing the costs and logistics of installing gas for your home or business. Once the estimate is approved and full payment is presented, the gas line can then be installed.

Please allow four to six weeks minimum, and possibly eight to twelve weeks in cases of permitting delays and utility extensions for typical residential gas installations. Most residential and/or commercial applications are required to meet specific feasibility requirements to qualify for natural gas service. For more information and to check the availability of natural gas for your area, call the Clearwater Gas System’s sales Office at (727) 562-4980.

Liquid Propane Gas Service Installation (LP) Process

If natural gas is not yet available in your area, you may want to consider propane gas for your home or business. Clearwater Gas System also provides propane gas service and requires a minimum of a gas water heater to be installed to qualify for propane gas service. The propane gas installation process is rather basic and involves a Clearwater Gas System sales representative visiting your home (at your request) or business to perform a site visit and determine the propane gas energy needs for your home or business. Please be aware that Clearwater Gas System offers a residential energy conservation allowance when converting from electric to propane gas energy.

Following the site visit, a written estimate will be provided detailing the costs and logistics of installing propane gas for your home or business. Once the estimate is approved and full payment is presented, the installation process can then begin. Please allow four to six weeks for installation of your tank and your service line (timeframes may vary depending upon propane installation codes and permitting requirements). On average, propane gas is approximately 32 percent cheaper to operate compared to electricity.
